In this sense, the National Electoral Council (CNE) enabled a total of 1,187 voting centers throughout the country with the intention of strengthening Venezuela’s democratic process.
“This activity is planned as part of the elections to the National Assembly, state governors, and legislative councils. This simulation verifies the technical and logistical operability of the phases of the process, which begins at 08:00 and ends at 18:00 (local time),” explained the vice president of the (CNE), Carlos Quintero.
Although only 25 percent of polling stations are enabled during this process, the simulation preserves the model of communal democracy of the Bolivarian Republic.
The CNE (National Electoral Council) stated that the active participation of voters is “key to guaranteeing a democratic, solid and participatory exercise,” and invited all Venezuelans to join this call that “will not only be carried out to practice the process, but also consolidates the collective commitment.”
“From the CNE we have done an arduous job to guarantee the right to vote,” said the electoral rector, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the Venezuelan democratic process.
In the upcoming regional elections, 24 governors, 285 deputies to the National Assembly and 260 legislators at the state level will be elected, for a total of 569 positions.
From Caracas, economist Andy Hernández explained that the development of the Electoral Simulation taking place this Saturday in Venezuela defends the country’s institutions.
During the Simulation, citizens will have the opportunity to go through the four stations of the electoral horseshoe: identification, casting the vote, depositing the receipt, and registration in the voting book.
Through this process, real voting conditions are simulated, which reaffirms the transparency, speed, and modernity of the automated system.
Hernández pointed out that these votes take place after President Nicolás Maduro, at the beginning of this year, presented a proposal for constitutional reform, in addition to the territorial dispute of the Essequibo with Guyana.
